I'm an experienced Marriage and Family Therapist who sees individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in trauma-focused therapy. I maintain a private practice in both Mira Mesa and Ocean Beach, subdivisions of San Diego, California. I'm a Christian therapist who believes in the amazing healing power of God’s presence.
I graduated from the University of San Diego in 1996 with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy after spending 20 years as a practicing registered nurse. Over more than 20 years, I have treated a number of clients with a wide range of different mental health diagnoses. In addition I've supervised a number of Marriage and Family Therapist Trainees and Interns. While working at the San Diego Rescue Mission for 16 years, I obtained a deep understanding and compassion for people of all different backgrounds.
I treat each of my clients and their stories with the highest respect. I believe that almost every human being has endured some sort of trauma, even if it is the ” trauma of omission”. In a very personal, interactive fashion, I explore with my clients the negative belief systems which they have developed over time and which get in the way of their present happiness and fulfillment in life. I have seen, first hand, the powerful effect which EMDR therapy has had in bringing positive resolution to traumatic memories. Because of this I am able to hold out to my clients a real hope for healing and wholeness in the future.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from San Diego State University in 1972 & Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of San Diego in 1996.
